Starter and Development Grants for Literary Translators
For who?
Translators from a foreign language into Dutch or Frisian.
For what?
The Starter grant is a supplement to the translation fee for your literary translation debut, while the Development grant is a contribution to expenses incurred for your professional development as a literary translator.
How much?
Starter grant: maximum €5,000
Development grant: maximum €2,500
How and when to apply?
Apply through the Dutch Foundation for Literature website. All proposals will be processed in order of receipt until the grant budget is exhausted. Applications will be processed between 1 February and 1 December. You will be informed of the decision by email no later than eight weeks after we have received your completed application.

Good to know
You can apply for a Starter Grant once, for your translation debut. You can apply for a Development Grant more often, with a maximum of once per year.
