Cultural education on Bonaire, Saba and St. Eustatius

For who?

The Cultural Education Programme of the Cultural Participation Fund focuses on strengthening cultural education in schools in the Caribbean part of the Kingdom. To properly fulfil this aim, we help cultural institutions on the islands to further develop their offerings in collaboration with schools.

The Cultural Education Scheme in Bonaire, Saba and St. Eustatius is the result. This scheme encourages the development and implementation of multi-year projects that contribute to more and better cultural education on these islands. This is linked to the educational vision of schools in primary, specialised, secondary and secondary vocational education.

For what?

Grants are available for multi-year projects aimed at more and better cultural education in primary, specialised and secondary education and secondary vocational education. Schools, cultural partners and the coordinator work together in developing and implementing cultural education connected to the schools’ vision. Applications can be made specifically for:

  • developing cultural education in which a school and a cultural partner work together on a project. This project must be linked to the school’s educational vision;
  • expertise promotion for cultural partners, teachers and coordinator;
  • developing a functioning infrastructure for sustainable cultural education in the schools;

Focusing on:

  • passing on local intangible heritage to new generations;
  • where possible, the use of digital technology to promote the above.

The project will start no earlier than 13 weeks after submission of the application and will run from 15 March 2025 to 31 December 2028.

Applications are submitted by a coordinator, which is a cultural institution that applies for a grant on its own behalf, and in collaboration with other cultural partners and education. The coordinator leads the project and acts as its intermediary on the island for which the application is submitted.
