Music Author Development Grant
For whom?
This grant is intended for music authors (composers, producers, etc.) who wish to invest in their professional artistic development. All genres of music are eligible.
Applicants must have been professionally active within the performing arts within the Kingdom of the Netherlands for at least two years. This must be demonstrated by means of a list of recent works. Music authors currently pursuing an arts education—at MBO, Bachelor’s or Master’s level—are not (yet) eligible. After all, these education programmes already provide support for artistic development.
You do not need to have an educational background in arts.
For what?
You can apply for the music author development grant if you wish to follow a specific and artistic development trajectory. The programme will run up to two years and consist of research leading to new work. This may include various activities that are part of the development process.
Examples include:
- Self-study or research, for example on repertoire, instrumentation, electronic music, folk music or music notation.
- Time to create new compositions, elaborating on the result of your research. You may apply for a grant for this as compensation for your work.
- Collaboration with a coach and/or partner with specific knowledge and qualities in the field of music.
Please clarify how these activities contribute to your research, new work and artistic development.
How much?
The grant amount is 9,500 euros per application. This is a fixed amount for a work period of up to two years.
How and when to apply?
There are two rounds of applications per year, usually in the spring and fall. You can only apply once a year and receive funding a maximum of once every two years.
