How to submit an application to the Mondriaan Fund
On the Mondriaan Fund website, you can apply for an account, which you need to be able to submit an application. This only applies if you have do not have an account yet/ have not applied with the fund before. Once your application is complete, please allow for a processing period of 3 months from the moment your application has been submitted in full. However, due to the many applications to the fund, the processing time can take longer than expected. Furthermore, grants cannot be awarded retroactively. Therefore, the application must be submitted well before the desired starting date. The advisory committee advises the Board of the Mondriaan Fund on whether or not to grant a contribution.
Procedure
- Applicants must submit applications through the application system. Applicants can choose to apply in Dutch or English. Depending on this choice, the system will open either the Dutch or the English version of the application form.
- A number of Mondriaan Fund grantshave a deadline. See the heading ‘How and when to apply’ in the online explanation of the grant. Make sure you submit your application before the deadline.
- After an application has been submitted, the so-called fund agency will check whether the application is complete. If the application is not complete, someone from the fund agency will contact the applicant. The applicant will then have 5 business days to ensure the application is complete. If the application is still incomplete after this period, we will unfortunately be unable to consider it.
- If the application is complete, the applicant will receive confirmation by email of the submission.
The advisory committee will advise the Mondriaan Fund management about whether or not to award the grant. The management’s decision will be sent to the applicant by email and post within 3 months after the submissions deadline. If the grant does not have a deadline, the board’s decision will be sent to the applicant by mail and post within 3 months of submission of the application.
Assessment
All submitted applications will be presented to the advisory committee responsible for granting funding for the relevant grant. The advisory committee judges on the basis of the criteria as set out in all online explanations under the heading ‘Assessment’.
A grant can only be awarded if the advisory committee approves an application. The management of the Mondriaan Fund may ask the advisory committee to make a selection from the approved applications. This selection will be based on the diversity of projects, their regional distribution and a balanced variety of project types. The management may also decide to grant a lower amount than the amount requested, depending on the available budget.
