On this page you will find videos* of projects on the ABCSSS islands that received grants from the national culture funds. In the videos, makers and cultural initiators talk about the plans for which they received support. They share how they approached their application and their experience. The videos are meant to inspire you. Maybe your project will also qualify for a grant from a national culture fund.

Kaya Kaya Foundation

The Kaya Kaya Foundation organises the annual Kaya Kaya festival in Otrobanda, Curaçao, featuring visual arts and live performances. The foundation also works on placemaking and urban development. In this video, director Kurt Schoop shares his experience of applying for grants from organisations such as the Cultural Participation Fund, Mondriaan Fund and Creative Industries Fund NL, and provides some useful tips.

Brian Dekkers

Musician Brian Dekkers applied for a grant for his ‘4 AM’ project with the aim of realising his international ambitions. Thanks to the grant from the Performing Arts Fund NL, he was able to collaborate with several international musicians and take his music to the next level. 

This project is supported through the Urban Arts Projects scheme.

Fundashon Lesa Ta Dushi

Monica Clarinda of Fundashon Lesa ta Dushi tells about their experience with applying for a subsidy for a reading promotion project. They received funding from the Dutch Foundation for Literature. Fundashon Lesa ta Dushi organizes, among other things, creative writing workshops at primary and secondary schools on Bonaire.
